The 100 greatest movies according to the critics might not accurately reflect the opinions of everyday people, but a breakdown of the best based on IMDb audience ratings is bound to resemble something closer to the collective consensus (and at the very least, it’s been chosen more democratically).

Below, you’ll find more than a few of the usual suspects — ranging from Frank Darabont’s The Shawshank Redemption and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather (Part I & II); to Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane and the actual Usual Suspects itself — along with a few fresh entries, such as animated hit Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Interestingly enough, Oppenheimer — which stars Cillian Murphy — represents Nolan’s seventh entry into the IMDb Top 100 after Memento, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, and of course, Interstellar; as well as his fourth entry within the even more selective IMDb Top 20.

What can we say? The man just knows what thrills cinemagoing folks.

Check out the best movies as of 2023 (according to IMDb).
