Admittedly, there hasn’t been much running out of this past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con that’s been worth a mention. The event’s two major draws, Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series and the very final episodes of long-running zombie drama The Walking Dead, were served with the weekend’s most popular panels, but in terms of film not much has been happening. There is an exception, however. We’re finally getting our first look at the next entry into the John Wick saga, with Lionsgate revealing the first official John Wick: Chapter 4 trailer with Keanu Reeves once again slipping into a role that resurrected his career back in 2014.

With a March 2023 release date on the table, John Wick: Chapter 4 looks to be the most ambitious and expansion entry in the popular one-man-band action franchise to date, spanning Japan, Jordan, Germany, France and the US. The movie direct follows the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, with Reeves as Wick getting ready to go against the High Table.

The actor showed up at a “Directors on Directing” panel at San Diego Comic-Con late last week to help debut the trailer alongside franchise director Chad Stahelski. As you can expect, the John Wick 4 trailer is absolutely teeming with the kind of action that has made the franchise such a money machine for the past decade. Give it a watch through and you’ll spot all sorts of Samurai swords, nunchucks and even some bows and arrows as Stahelski and Reeves attempt to one-up the previous three chapters and take Wick in a super-charged direction.

Franchise regulars Laurne Fishburne, Ian McShane and Lance Reddick are all here, as The Bowery King, Continenta hotlier Winston and concierge Charon, respectively. They’ll be joined by newcomers Rina Sawayama, Clancy Brown, Bill Skarsgard, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuku Sanda and Scott Adkins to help prop up the supporting cast.

“Have you given any thought to where this ends? The Table will never stop, you know this,” Hiroyuki Sanada’s Shimazu says in the trailer.

“No one – not even you – can kill everyone.”

Obviously, this means John Wick will quite literally kill everyone as he takes on what appears to be the entire criminal underground network for John Wick: Chapter 4. Although do note that this won’t be the last John Wick entry in the franchise, given John Wick 5 has already been confirmed.

To date, all three John Wick films have grossed US$584.2 in global box office earnings. John Wick: Chapter 4 will be heading to cinemas on March 24, 2023.
