A New Zealand talent agency has just issued yet another casting call for the stranger-looking operators out there, offering said operators a chance to feature as extras in Amazon’s upcoming Lord of the Rings series. So if you have a mug only a mother could love – here’s your chance.

The call was made via the Auckland-based company’s Facebook page, listing the following “desirable qualities”:

  • facial burns
  • long skinny limbs
  • acne scars
  • deep cheekbones
  • facial lines
  • missing bones
  • large eyes
  • skinny faces

The roles, however, have not been specified. But given a similar listing was issued last year for the purpose of casting orcs, it’s safe to assume you won’t be playing anyone from the elven world. Or regular human, for that matter.

Interestingly enough, there seems to be an additional layer of secrecy this time around. The post in question had originally specified this casting callout was for Amazon’s Lord of the Rings, complete with the hashtag #lordoftheringsonprime. All mentions of the property, however, were soon edited out. Which only makes this opportunity even more intriguing…

This highly-anticipated adaptation will reportedly be the most expensive series ever, with a first season budget of over US$500 million. Having recently announced the main cast, expectations are obviously high – but only time will tell if it’ll actually deliver.
