You’ve most likely spent the entire weekend enjoying the fruits of Uber Eats, but don’t put the app down just yet. For the next 48 hours only (that’s Sunday and Monday for anyone too hungover to think right now), Uber Eats will be offering 50% off groceries from supermarkets like Woolies and IGA, which should take care of anyone who hasn’t stocked up on the next few weeks worth of produce.
Did you happen to see a giant 300kg pickle being flown over some of Sydney’s most famous beaches this morning? That’s relevant here. Uber Eats chose National Pickle Day to launch the half-price groceries offer, celebrating the occasion by floating a phallic veggie to remind people that the service has expanded its grocery selection and is set on becoming much more than just the facilitators of gelato and burgers for your next binge-watch.
“Uber Eats may be synonymous with food delivery, but we are continuing to expand our offering to include more everyday categories like grocery, convenience, alcohol, pharmaceuticals, and pet supplies,” said Regional General Manager for Retail at Uber Eats ANZ, Lucas Groeneveld.
“Our aim is to make it easier for Aussies to get what they need if they are in a pickle by tapping a button.”
Being able to dial in some fresh fruit and veggies, or a last-minute bottle of wine before a dinner party, is an absolute game-changer when it comes to how we manage our time and some of the most essential parts of home-living. Throw a half-price offer on top of that.
All grocery orders made with Uber Eats from now until midnight on Monday will be slashed by 50% as long as you’re typing in the code PICKLE in the promotions section of the Uber Eats app before you pull the trigger.
After that, there will be a new pickle themed banner on the app in perpetuity, under which a curated selection of last-minute grocery items will always be available for whenever the need arises.
