There are many impressive luxury New York apartments that are used in key moments throughout Succession. The Roy family are pros at living large in the Big Apple and so it follows that the wildly popular HBO series would be a bastion of outrageously lush interior porn without equal. We already saw it with Pavilion A at Woolworth Tower Residences and now we’ve had a striking reminder of Succession’s seismic visual impact with this Manhattan triplex, which served as Kendall Roy’s newest penthouse in the show’s fifth and final season.

Used as the setting for Episode 4’s dramatic opening scene, this triplex crowns the swanky 180 East 88th Street tower, reportedly the tallest residence north of 72nd Street on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. We really only caught a glimpse of the apartment and it’s since been absent from the show with no substantial screen time.

Yet, Kendall Roy’s penthouse has caught our attention and, if you’re reasonably cashed up, it could be yours for a very cool US$29 million (AU$43.1 million). The three-storey apartment, which was developed and designed by Joe McMillan’s DDG, has now been listed by the folks at Corcoran who describe the home as “one of the most unique opportunities in the history of New York City.”

A private elevator is included to navigate all three floors of the slick apartment, which is relentlessly modern throughout and is grounded by a sculptural spiral staircase that also scales each level. You’ll get five generously-sized bedrooms and four bathrooms (plus two powder rooms) spread across 510 square metres, with most spaces brightened by floor-to-ceiling windows that peer out over Central Park and New York City’s iconic skyline.

On the lowest level of the Kendall Roy apartment, you’ve got an open-plan living room next to a dining room, a great room with its own wet bar and a grand fireplace, and a large den that could be used by the new owner as a library or guest bedroom. The kitchen is also located on this floor, anchored by an island framed by Statuario marble countertops and dotted with luxury Gaggenau appliances.

Head to the upper floors and you’ll find all five bedrooms, each kitted out with plush furnishings and numerous private spaces to make the place seem even larger than it already is. The master bedroom has its own fireplace, dressing room and a private loggia terrace, as well as a bathroom with marble mosaic walls and oak cabinetry.

Secondary bedrooms all share direct access to another double-height loggia terrace overlooking the eastern cityscape that’s bested only by the 195 square metre roof terrace that’s split into two entertainment areas and can be accessed via the elevator.

Whoever has enough gusto to pick up this epic triplex will also get direct access to the various amenities of 80 East 88th Street. The building hosts a very exclusive collection of 47 condominium residences and offers concierge services with a whopping eight floors of high-end amenities including a fitness studio, a playroom and game room, a residents’ lounge with a catering kitchen, wine storage spaces and, most importantly, a double-height basketball court next to a soccer pitch.

If you’re keen to make the hefty investment you can find the full listing below as well as more photos of this stunning Succession triplex courtesy of New York photographer Sean Hemmerle.
