Even if you’re a strong swimmer, kicking along under the surface to enjoy the marine life can be really hard work. To make things a little easier, the Geneinno S2 underwater scooter is here to help you travel underwater faster, as a compact propulsion device that you can easily fit in your suitcase.

The team at the Chinese-based Geneinno have become one of the market leaders in this kind of underwater technology, creating professional diving drones for videographers as well as their popular underwater seascooters. While they also sell the larger Geneinno S1, the S2 model is far more versatile and practical for holidaymakers, measuring 19 inches long by 10 inches wide, meaning it isn’t much bigger than your average Macbook.

Aside from its compact portability, the Geneinno S2 features a motor that can put out 10kgs of thrust which allows you to slice through the water at a top speed of 4.3km/h – a pace that’s faster than most of the lap swimmers you’ll find at your local pool. This is thanks to the 97 Wh battery pack inside, which contains around 45 minutes of swimming time before it’ll need to be plugged in to charge (90 minutes should return you to full charge).

With a depth rating down to 30 metres, the Geneinno S2 also has two speeds of either 3.2km/h or 4.3km/h so you can choose how much distance you’re covering, while it also has a GoPro mount on the front where you can either attach a camera or a torch in murky waters. Accompanying the underwater scooter is an app where you can track speed, depth, distance and the battery, as well as a parental function to control the device when your kids are taking it for a spin.

With summer holidays just around the corner, the Geneinno S2 could be the perfect new addition to your beach gear, with an approachable RRP of US$539 (AU$804).
