As the auto industry accelerates towards electrification, Ferrari has announced the arrival of its first fully electric supercar will be expediated, currently scheduled for a 2025 launch date.
The confirmation was made by the Italian marque’s acting chairman John Elkann during an annual shareholders meeting, which raised eyebrows (in the best possible sense) given how Ferrari had previously stated it wouldn’t offer its own take on an electric vehicle until after 2025.
Former CEO Louis Camilleri rationalised this stance by pointing out how battery technology simply wasn’t up to scratch in recharge time and driving range; before doubling down on the sentiment by stating he couldn’t see the brand ever having a 50% battery-powered lineup, let alone going completely electric. But since December 2019 – the same year Ferrari introduced its critically lauded SF90 Stradale hybrid – notable strides have obviously been made on this front.

“We are very excited about our first all-electric Ferrari that we plan to unveil in 2025,” says Elkan.
“We are continuing to execute our electrification strategy in a highly disciplined way.”
In addition to hinting at the debut of three new conventional models in the next few months, Elkann would later detail how Ferrari’s interpretation of electric technologies would be a tremendous opportunity to bring the “uniqueness and passion” of Ferrari to newer generations.
Apart from the fact it’ll apparently be “everything you dream the engineers and designers at Maranello can imagine” for such a landmark event in the Prancing Horse’s history, no further details surrounding a fully electric Ferrari have been provided at this stage.
