So far 2024 is shaping up to be a year of very big big-name boxing bouts, with Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather 2 announced in early January and now, the confirmed super-fight of Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul. Netflix has teamed up with the Paul-owned Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) to broadcast a heavyweight exhibition bout, set to capture the attention of sports enthusiasts around the globe.

The event, headlined by Jake “El Gallo” Paul and Mike Tyson, a.k.a.”Baddest Man on the Planet,” is scheduled for live streaming exclusively on Netflix.

This historic battle will unfold on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas: a venue renowned for hosting the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and accommodating up to 80,000 spectators.

Jake Paul, with a 9-1 fight record (most recently against Nate Diaz, Tommy Fury, and Anderson Silva) faces his most formidable opponent yet in the form Tyson, whose legendary career boasts a 50-6 record — including 44 knockouts. Tyson, the youngest heavyweight champion ever, who ESPN has also ranked the hardest hitter in heavyweight history, brings a legacy of explosive power and unbridled violence to the ring. Unsurprisingly, there are a lot of boxing fans who are excited to see this unleashed in Paul’s direction.

“It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons,” said Jake Paul.

“My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion ever, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. This will be the fight of a lifetime.”

The promotional and broadcasting partnership between Netflix and MVP, co-founded by Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian in 2021, represents a fresh effort to change how combat sports are presented to the public. By leveraging Netflix’s worldwide platform, this partnership aims to deliver an event that connects generations of sports fans to what could be one of the most exciting fights thus far this century.

“I’m very much looking forward to stepping into the ring with Jake Paul at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas,” said Mike Tyson. “He’s grown significantly as a boxer over the years, so it will be a lot of fun to see what the will and ambition of a ‘kid’ can do with the experience and aptitude of a GOAT. It’s a full circle moment that will be beyond thrilling to watch; as I started him off on his boxing journey on the undercard of my fight with Roy Jones and now I plan to finish him.”

Here’s hoping Tyson still has the same fight in him.
