For the third year running, Uber and Kia have teamed up to do punters a solid: offering free rides to and from the 2025 Australian Open in a fleet of fully electric vehicles.
From Sunday, January 12th to Sunday, January 26th (Australia Day), Uber One members will have access to complimentary โKia Electricโ trips on the app between Melbourne CBD and within an eight-kilometre radius of Melbourne Park stadium (subject to availability).
The 50 eco-friendly chariots that await include the newly unveiled Kia EV5, as well as other luxury electric variants of the luxurious EV6 and EV9, all in a special Kia x Uber One monochrome livery.

Similarly to previous years, while passengers wonโt be charged a single red cent, drivers can still expect 100% of the fare courtesy of KIA. The only real conditions are these trips will be capped at $100 โ and only bookable from 9 AM to 10 PM.
โAs the major partner of the Australian Open, weโre already moving Grand Slam athletes around in a fleet of hybrid and electric vehicles, and we wanted to give spectators the chance to ride to the tennis precinct in the same style, comfort, and with the same reduced carbon footprint that the players are,โ said Kia Australia CEO Damien Meredith.
โWeโre incredibly proud of our global partnership with Uber which helps unlock activations like this in Australia, allowing their members perks like free trips to and from the tennis in full VIP comfort.โ
Emma Foley, Managing Director of Uber ANZ, added: โWeโre fortunate to partner with Kia locally and globally. They share our vision for a fully electric future and increase the number of EVs on Australian roads. And together, with the help of Uberโs driver partners, we will turn thousands of kilometres green to kickstart the summer.โ
An Uber One membership will set you back just $9.99 per month. A bargain when you consider the savings on rides + grub via UberEats, priority access to drivers, member perks, and yes, the occasional freebie like this.
How bloody good.
