HBO’s ‘Succession’ Cleans Up At The 2022 Golden Globes

This year’s Golden Globes were truly a sign of the times – or at least the strange post-COVID era we’re living out, which initially kicked off back in 2020 and promises/threatens to linger about well into 2022. But there was a silver lining. Without the usual dog and pony show, an acid-tongued host to lambast Hollywood’s (deserving) glitterati, red carpet event, or even a live ceremony… those who gave half a damn about the lesser-coveted accolade was able to appreciate the very best in recent film and television via social media. In other words, consume the necessary information directly, conveniently, and without all the other frivolous bullshit.

Confirming our suspicions about its status as the best series on television right now, HBO’s Succession snagged a gilded statuette in every single category it was nominated for; ranging from Sarah Snook and Jeremy Strong landing the honour of Best Supporting Actress and Best Actor in a television series respectively, to clinching the W for Best Television Series (Drama). Netflix’s The Power of the Dog starring Benedict Cumberbatch also made a strong showing in both nominations and actual wins, most prominently earning gold for Best Motion Picture (Drama), as well as Best Director (Motion Picture) for Jane Campion.

“Congratulations to all nominees and winners, and a heartfelt thank you from all of us at the Hollywood Foreign Press to our incredible grantees who joined us tonight in our celebration,” the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HPFA) expressed via statement.

“We’ll see you here next year when we celebrate 80 years of the Golden Globes!”
