Announced this morning, The Backstreet Boys are planning to tour Australia early next year, their first time on our (rainy) shores since 2015. Following the release of their latest Christmas album, A Very Backstreet Christmas, the pop veterans are prepping to serve us a slice of infectious 90s hits like ‘I Want It That Way,’ ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back),’ and ‘Quit Playing Games,’ which we’re all going to lap up without absolutely no shame at all.

Now that society is well beyond being embarrassed about having an undying love for boy band bangers, the nostalgia factor alone should see tickets snapped up fast. Speed is advised – they’re on sale now and news is fast spreading across the media landscape, so you won’t have too long to lock down your chance to see pop royalty in the flesh.

90s nostalgia tours have been flying in thick and fast for next year, so The Backstreet Boys Australian tour joins the heaving list of pearlers going down in the first three months of the year like Elton John, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and a newly reformed Blink 182.

Mind you, the entire lineup of Backstreet Boys is coming down – that is, AJ McLean, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and Kevin Richardson – for the tour. They’ll be flying around Australia for a few shows and then popping across the ditch to New Zealand for one show at Auckland’s Spark Arena to wrap up the tour on March 11.

It’ll all kick off on Saturday, February 25 when the lads touch down in Perth for a stadium concert at RAC Arena, following which there are two concerts in Melbourne, two in Sydney and one in Brisbane.

The set list should take you through all the songs you want to hear as well as songs from their 2019 album DNA, on which this tour is based. Looking through the setlist from one of the most recent Backstreet Boys concerts in Germany indicates there’ll be about 33 songs in total performed, including all the obvious ones so you don’t have to worry about this one is just for the “real fans.”
