- While the world waits on Taylor Sheridan to wrap up Yellowstone season 5 (Part II), Special Ops: Lioness season 2 is just weeks away from premiering.
- The taut spy thriller à la Sicario stars Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly, and Morgan Freeman.
- Special Ops: Lioness season 2 release date — October 27th, 2024.
You don’t become the busiest man in television for no good reason, and the first trailer for Taylor Sheridan’s Special Ops: Lioness season 2 is only further proof of that.
Ahead of his next hotly anticipated series in Landman starring Billy Bob Thornton, Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore — which hits Paramount+ in November — and the long-delayed second half of Yellowstone season 5 (arrival still TBA), the tireless creative is unveiling the sophomore instalment of his most underrated episodic property.

For the uninitiated: Sheridan revisited Sicario territory in the first season with a story about Force Recon Marine, Sergeant Cruz Manuelos (Laysla De Oliveira), who is recruited into the CIA’s Lioness program and tasked with befriending Aaliyah Amrohi (Stephanie Nur) — daughter of billionaire terrorist financier Asmar Ali Amrohi (Bassem Youssef).
Without giving away too much away, the finale ended in something of a dire power vacuum; a classic example of the devil you know versus the devil you don’t in all its philosophical nuance. And you better believe there’ll be a geopolitical fallout to address.
As per the trailer, Special Ops: Lioness season 2 covers the CIA’s fight against terror moving “closer to home,” forcing the CIA’s Joe (Saldana), Kaitlyn Meade (Kidman), and Deputy Director Byron Westfield (Kelly) to enlist a new Lioness operative (Genesis Rodriguez) from Iraq. One who can “infiltrate a previously unknown threat.”
“With pressure mounting from all sides, Joe is forced to confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.”
The cast is rounded out by Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier.
In addition to Taylor Sheridan, Nicole Kidman, and Zoe Saldaña, Special Ops: Lioness is executive produced by David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Jill Wagner, David Lemanowicz, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox.
Special Ops: Lioness season 2 begins streaming via Paramount+ on October 27th, 2024 with two episodes right from the jump; and should keep us entertained until the next bursts of Yellowstone 1923, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown arrives — check out the trailer above.
