Amazon Prime Video has just announced its new documentary series which will follow Australiaโs cricket team.
The Test: A New Era For Australiaโs Team is set to provide an unprecedented behind-the-scenes look at how โone of the worldโs best cricket teams fell from grace.โ From there, it becomes a journey to not only reclaim their former status โ but to restore their lost integrity.
The eight-part series will pick up immediately after the infamous ball-tampering incident in South Africa, which prompted a spectrum of reactions internationally. The first documented event is reportedly the appointment of Justin Langer as coach.
The Test promises to showcase the well-publicised lives of the Australian cricket team as a whole in a previously unseen light. Everything from defeats โ like the first-ever Test series loss to India on home soil; as well as triumphs โ like the subsequent rally to a comeback during the World Cup campaign and 2019 Ashes series.
This announcement comes as Amazon ups its efforts to cater more content towards Australian audiences. The Test will soon join an entire host of Aussie-centric content directed at our shores. And by the sounds of it, this is only the beginning.
โAs we continue to increase production of Australian Amazon Original series, our goal is to tell local stories that resonate with our Prime members and we believe that The Test will do just that,โ says James Farrell, Vice President of International Originals at Amazon Studios.
โWeโre excited to launch this series exclusively for our Prime members in Australia and around the world.โ
The Test will stream on Amazon Prime Video in early 2020. Watch the first teaser above.
