It doesn’t matter if you’re Bernard Arnault or Michael Jordan, you can’t buy more time. It’s the one universal equaliser that can’t be commodified. But maximising time is undeniably what the world’s most successful people do best.
And since we’re not all flying private, streamlining your travel process, especially domestically, is a fine art anyone who flies regularly should aspire to master.
If you’re always on the move, Uber Reserve likely won’t be new to you. The tool allows you to request a ride up to 90 days in advance at any time of the day. Improved technology helps lock in and navigate drivers to arrive up to 15 minutes early for your scheduled pickup time, and additional wait time is included in your fare for convenience.
What high flyers might not be aware of is the airport-specific offering, which allows travellers to schedule a ride at their destination airport with flight tracking technology built-in to ensure a ride is ready regardless if it’s early, on time, or delayed. For added comfort, this feature is exclusively available with Uber’s most premium ride, Uber Premier. The fare already includes up to 60 minutes of wait time after your flight lands, so riders won’t have to pay any additional charge to the upfront price if they need this time when leaving the airport.
Essentially, it’s your personal town car booked with a few taps of your smartphone.
Reserve airport pickup is available in Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney airports. You also earn Qantas points every time you ride with Uber to and from major domestic airports in Australia, which is a nice little kickback for the pleasure.
And it doesn’t just stop when you’ve arrived at your destination. If you’re sailing through back-to-back appointments all over the city, ensure your schedule is tight and on time by booking your Uber rides ahead of the day using the general reserve function. If you’re only on the ground for a day or two, this hack seems like a no-brainer.
If you’re after more travel hacks, we’ve collaborated with Uber for a new series, Wheels Up, where you’ll find some of Australia’s faster operators and titans of industry alike pinned down, albeit for a brief moment. We want to know how they move more efficiently around the country and the globe, as for them, every second counts.
