Piaget have added an ultra-thin addition to the brand’s historic Polo collection, which has been a high watermark for the luxury watchmaker since its creation in 1979. The new Piaget Polo Skeleton aims to offer wearers a sports watch that’s both petite and elegant, maintaining a strong wrist presence while managing to work in one of thinnest automatic movements available on the market.

That movement – a 2.4mm Piaget 1200S1 calibre with a power reserve of 44 hours – is wound by a micro-rotor, and is a slimmer version of the celebrated 1200P, refined and balanced to fit the smaller profile. The way Piaget have managed to fit this movement into the watch reiterates just how uncontested they are when it comes to finessing these sport watches with the perfect balance of size and function – a reputation that has endeared and defined the brand throughout history.

The Polo Skeleton comes under a year after Piaget released the world’s thinnest watch, dubbed the Piaget Altiplano Ultimate Concept with an incredible depth of just 2mm.

The Piaget Polo Skeleton’s open worked clean and striking modern aesthetics are worked with precise curves and a sophisticated implementation of classic design, shaped specifically as a function of the 42mm steel case. At 6.5mm thick, the watch is considerably thinner than previous versions.

With alternating polished and satin-brushed surfaces, the Paget Polo Skeleton is able to catch light with intention, adding another layer to the highly considered design, from the integrated H-link steel bracelet and alligator leather strap, to the cushion-shaped dial – a specific shape first introduced only a few years ago in 2016 – which is available in either slate galvanic grey or Piaget signature blue PVD. The unique skeletonised hands show the hours and minutes, and the time is indicated with applied faceted markets attached to the inner flange.

Both versions offer a distinctive take on the overall design, with the blue PVD option offering something brighter and more charismatic. On the other hand, the galvanic grey version is sleek and more reserved, with a uniformed look to better align with the movement.

The 30m water resistant watch is now available through authorised dealers in both versions for CHF 28,700 (~AU$41,810). You can find out more by visiting the Piaget website linked below.
