Qantas Is Now Offering Status Match For 16 Airlines

To quote a once-popular HBO series, chaos isn’t a pit – it’s a ladder. And in the wake of COVID-19’s destruction upon the entire travel industry, Qantas is providing an opportunity to climb by launching the Status Fast Track promotion; an offer which not only gives existing frequent flyer members a shortcut to achieving Qantas Gold status, but also allows frequent flyer members from other loyalty programs to jump the queue and ascend via status match.

“With so much uncertainty in the market, we’ve seen a spike in requests from people wanting us to match their status with other airlines,” says Olivia Wirth, CEO of Qantas Loyalty.

“If they are willing to bring their travel across to Qantas, we will fast track them to Gold status.”

Gold status, however, is the highest you’ll go regardless of where you rank elsewhere. As noted by Executive Traveller, there are no shortcuts to reaching Qantas’ “shiny platinum perch”. Still, for those of you currently with the likes of Virgin Velocity, this should be welcome news in any case. As for the Qantas purists looking to upgrade, applicants will have 90 days to rack up 100 status credits instead of the usual 700.
