We’ve just received another preview of HBO’s Succession season 4 – not quite a trailer, more of a teaser trailer; certainly meatier than what we received last week – and it looks as though the Roy children are gearing up to fight GoJo’s acquisition of Waystar RoyCo with everything they’ve got.

“Everything I try to do, people turn against me,” laments Brian Cox’s family patriarch/billionaire Logan Roy.

“I’m a hundred feet tall. These people are pygmies.”

Based on what we’ve seen in this latest Succession season 4 teaser trailer, the maladjusted adult Roy kids – Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Connor (Alan Ruck) – have kept their lifelong rivalries on ice post-bombshell season 3 finale, instead collaborating to reclaim their birth right by forming a “rebel alliance.”

The official synopsis for Succession season 4 is as follows:

The sale of media conglomerate Waystar RoyCo to tech visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.

“There is an endgame. Whether it comes this next season or whether it comes the season after that, we’ll find out,” Brian Cox previously told Collider.

“It’s also up to [series creator Jesse Armstrong], Jesse’s energy, and if he can keep it up – and the energy of his writers.”

“We’re actors. We’ll go on forever. We can be a bit mindless like that. I won’t go on forever. I think there’s a natural end to the show and it will come. It will be sad to see the end of it, but it will also be well achieved, I hope.”

“Who knows how long it will go on? We don’t want it to overstay its welcome, like Billions; that’s past its sell-by date. That will not happen with our show.”

Production on the upcoming fourth season began earlier this year on June 27th at New York City with Mark Mylod directing the first of 10 episodes.

This month, it was confirmed the cast and crew had flown to western Norway, making its way to locations such as the Atlantic Ocean Road, Romsdalen Gondola, and Juvet Landscape Hotel. In other words, everyone is clearly taking this GoJo acquisition story arc very seriously.

Currently, the Succession season 4 release date is slated for Spring 2023 (translation for non-Americans: March, April, May).
