Sushi: Check. Burrito: Check. Behold the Sushirrito

— Updated on 24 November 2022

Did the epidemic of food hybrids just reach an all time high? Over the past few years our taste buds have been graced with the introduction of the infamous cronut, to the cruffin and even the pizza cone, but is it possible that a some genius foodies based out of non-other than San Francisco, the land of the weird, wacky, innovative and alternative, has come up with the most tantalising yet? World – I give to you the Sushirrito. The hybrid, of yes, you guessed it, a sushi roll and burrito!

The San Francisco born concept and chain now has 4 restaurants in the city and one in Palo Alto. It was born as a better way to serve sushi and combines two of the most popular foods in the area, sushi and the burrito. Its founder Peter Yen trademarked the name in 2008, and launched the first Sushirrito in 2011 in downtown San Francisco. Since then the concept has expanded. The rolls are made-to-order with Asian and Latino flavour infusions. Reviews are pretty positive, if the lines out the door aren’t enough evidence.

We can’t wait to get our hands on a Sushiritto!
