The Swatch x Omega MoonSwatch was a veritable force of nature when it was first announced just a couple of days before Watches & Wonders 2022, causing people to sleep in their cars in shopping mall car parks just to get a chance at picking up one of the collaborative chronographs. In an announcement that feels like déjà vu, Swatch announced a teaser on its Instagram overnight teasing an upcoming MoonSwatch MoonShine Gold new addition.

With the original 11-piece collection (each named after a planet in our solar system) still nigh on impossible to find from the Swatch stores it’s available in and second-hand prices on Chrono24 all remaining above the $395 RRP (ranging between $400 and $6,000), there’s zero chance the MoonSwatch MoonShine Gold won’t have similar levels of sneaker-like hysteria around the world when it drops in stores. The only speculation that’s left remaining is exactly what it’ll comprise of, with its name suggesting a link to Omega’s proprietary MoonShine Gold alloy that was used most famously in the stunning Omega Speedmaster Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition.

The MoonSwatch contributed to more than 15% of the growth of the entire Swiss watch industry between 2021 and 2022 and skyrocketing the sales of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch by 50% we can’t wait to see what this new golden child will offer. It’s set to drop on the 8th of March at 5 AM Sydney time, however, it’ll only be available in Switzerland, Italy and the UK at launch.
