Piagetโ€™s New Two-Tone Polo 79 Is Old World Opulence At Its Very Best

  • Piaget has kicked off 2026 with the arrival of a fresh Polo 79 reference, expressed in two-tone for the first time in decades.
  • Crafted predominantly from white gold, its yellow gold highlights nicely reflect the โ€œextralaganzaโ€ ethos of Piaget.
  • The new Piaget Polo 79 in two-tone wonโ€™t be a limited edition, and it arrives with a local RRP of $154,000.

A couple of years back, Piaget turned heads for all the right reasons as it revived the once legendary Polo collection. First crafted from yellow gold, we saw a white gold expression in 2025, and now this year, the Piaget Polo 79 has returned once more in tantalising two-tone.

As far as the baseline specs, anyone whoโ€™s familiar with the two previous references will know what this one feels like on the wrist. Itโ€™s cased in a blend of white and yellow gold, measuring 38mm in diameter and a slim-line 7.45mm thick, with an integrated bracelet that employs the same blend of horizontally brushed flat surfaces and mirror-polished curved gadroons.

Despite the majority of the watch being made from white gold, Piaget has used yellow gold hands in the two-tone reference, bringing a touch of additional contrast and warmth to the dial. Beneath the dial, weโ€™ve got the same wafer-like 1200P1 Manufacture automatic movement powering the watch (just 2.35mm thick), ticking away at 21,600vph and serving up a reasonable 44 hours of power reserve.

While the specs arenโ€™t stepping into new territory, the return of the two-tone case and bracelet is a more than welcome addition to the Polo 79 line-up. Iโ€™ve long thought there was a cool nostalgia to two-tone watches, harking back to an era where flashier displays of wealth were gaudy and two-tone offered a more conservative (and affordable) alternative.

Unfortunately for anyone hoping this expression of two-tone chic would be more affordable, thanks to the seemingly relentless upward march of gold prices, this latest Polo 79 arrives with a local RRP of $154,000 (the previous white gold version is $145,000). Yes, itโ€™s a touch more than last yearโ€™s, but then again, if I had to pick a favourite out of the three available today, itโ€™s this one.
