Over the weekend, Audemars Piguet announced its first-ever full platinum Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra-Thin Ref.15202PT, forgoing the brand’s more typical Tapisserie dial pattern in favour of a lustworthy, smoked green sunburst dial to complete the flex.

Following the success of the Ref.15202BC (White Gold/Salmon dial), which BH viewed at SIHH 2019, the Ref.15202PT also arrives in Genta’s sweet spot size case – 39mm – with case and bracelet in 950 platinum. The Ref.15202PT features the brand’s self-winding calibre 2121, with a solid 22-karat gold winding rotor, that’s visible through the case back. Given the choice of materials, it’s a weightier piece, but with a refined 8.1mm profile from front-to-back, it certainly lives up to the Extra-Thin promise.

Back to the matter of the headline-making dial itself, the green has been complemented by luminous 18-karat white gold markers, hour and minute hands – although no second hand – with a date window + black date wheel, and minimal text: Audemars Piguet, Automatic, Swiss Made, as well as the AP stamp.

The Royal Oak Jumbo Extra-Thin in sunburst green has a 40-hour power reserve and is rated for water resistance of up to 50 metres.

Available starting this month exclusive at AP Houses – not AP boutiques – the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Jumbo’ Extra-Thin Ref.15202PT will be limited to just 100 pieces with a price tag of US$105,400 (AU$136,000).
