Hot on the heels of the white-hot Formula 1 collab between TAG Heuer and New York-founded label KITH, the Swiss watchmaker is back with another motorsports-themed release. Appropriately launching ahead of the legendary Monaco Grand Prix, this all-new blacked-out titanium TAG Heuer Monaco skeleton is a stealthy addition to the famed collection.

It’s already been an important year for the Monaco design at TAG Heuer. For context, the brand dropped a pair of ultra-complicated split seconds chronographs at Watches & Wonders back in April. But with the annual race event hosted in its namesake still on the calendar, that was never going to be all. Now, we see the latest edition to the range of skeletonised Monaco references that debuted at the end of last year.

Cased in 39mm of black DLC-coated and sandblasted Grade 2 titanium (measuring 15.2mm in thickness), this particular Monaco features both blue and yellow dial highlights; while the partially skeletonised dial showcases elements of the movement beneath.

TAG Heuer explains these colour choices are references to the sparkling waters of the Mediterranean and the sparks kicked up by F1 cars as they tear through Circuit de Monaco which, against the black DLC-coated case, offers an attractive contrast.

Powering this latest TAG Heuer Monaco skeleton is the Calibre Heuer 02 (ref. TH20-00), featuring a column wheel that’s been coloured yellow to match the highlights on the dial side. Visible through the exhibition caseback rated for up to 100 metres of water resistance, the movement comes with an 80-hour power reserve and a black automatic winding rotor.

This blue and yellow TAG Heuer Monaco skeleton has been paired with an embossed blue calfskin and rubber strap that completes its impression on the wrist. Expect it to be available from TAG Heuer boutiques for a local retail price of $16,300.
