With almost a century of history in manufacturing some of the world’s most hard-wearing wristwatches, Hamilton’s latest releases are an ode to the spirit of adventure and exploration. Both the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot and the Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition collections have recently joined the American-founded watchmaker’s lineup, each of which celebrates pioneering across land and sky alike.

Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition

There’s something undeniably cool about a brushed stainless steel bezel, and the newest members of the Hamilton Khaki Field Expedition range offer eight different references with the compass bezel. Available in either a slightly more traditional 37mm case size or an unashamedly contemporary 41mm diameter, there’s a lot to get excited about if you’re hunting for a reliable everyday companion.

Drawing some inspiration from the armed forces field watches of the middle of the 20th century, the Khaki Field Expedition collection uses a relatively predictable colour palate of black, white or navy for the dials. Equally predictably, however, they look great with oversized Arabic hour markers, aged-lume hands, and either contrast stitched leather straps or a three-link stainless steel bracelet.

The 37mm references measure a slender 10.45mm in thickness, while the 41mm examples stand 11.5mm tall. Despite the difference in their case sizes, they’re both powered by the H-10 automatic movement with 80 hours of power reserve and an antimagnetic Nivachron™ balance spring.

With 100m of water resistance, a screw-down crown and an unpretentious presence on the wrist, the Khaki Field Expedition collection is a great addition to the Hamilton catalogue.

Next up is the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot collection, which welcomes no less than seven new references to the collection across both 36mm and 42mm case sizes. While the more modestly proportioned case is an ideal unisex option, the larger 42mm case size is perfect for anyone who loves a stronger presence on the wrist.

The larger size measures 12.1mm in thickness and arrives with your choice of white, navy or olive green dial, all of which have been treated with Super-LumiNova® (X1 class) for legibility in any lighting condition. Both the olive green and white dial references are paired with comfortable leather straps, while the navy blue dial model features a robust stainless steel bracelet, and all are powered by the H-30 automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve.

If the 36mm case size sounds like it’d suit you better you can expect a profile that measures 11.15mm thick, for a watch that’ll fit under a cuff nicely. The four different references arrive in either black or white dials with stainless steel cases, while you can get the navy blue dial in either 4N rose gold-coloured steel or the same brushed finish as the rest of the collection.
