As one of the world’s highest-paid athletes, Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed more than his fair share of excellent timepieces. From his Rolex GMT Master Ice to his Franck Muller Tourbillon, there’s a lot to love about the Cristiano Ronaldo watch collection, especially if you’re a fan of baguette-cut diamonds.

The current Al Nassr FC star is not only the most followed person in the world on Instagram (with 632 million followers), but thanks to his illustrious two decades on the football pitch, he’s also amassed an estimated net worth of around $1 billion. As you’d expect with that kind of money, he’s able to enjoy a fleet of supercars, an impressive portfolio of homes around the world, and of course, some of the most expensive watches ever made.

While he’s not a vintage watch guy, Cristiano Ronaldo’s taste seems to gravitate toward diamonds — and lots of them — along with the occasional “regular” watch. Let’s get into it.

The Best Of The Cristiano Ronaldo Watch Collection

Rolex GMT Master Ice Ref. 116769TBR

Cristiano Ronaldo Watch Collection

Originally released around 2014, the Rolex GMT Master-II Ice ref. 116769TBR remains one of the rarest watches ever produced by the Big Crown, executed in 40mm of 18-karat white gold and covered in diamonds. And if you’re after some idea of just how valuable it is, a single link for the bracelet is currently up for sale with a price tag of $22,296.

Set entirely in-house by Rolex, this array of dazzling diamonds still does the practical job it was designed for, with 100 metres of water resistance so Ronaldo can still dive off the side of his superyacht.

Franck Muller Cintree Tourbillon Full Diamonds

Another impossibly rare watch that’s been set entirely with diamonds, this timepiece is the white gold Franck Muller Cintree Tourbillon, complete with a bracelet that matches the case and dial.

There’s not a tremendous amount of detail out there about this watch, featuring a quintessentially curved Franck Muller case and tourbillon window at 6 o’clock. However, while we’ve spotted another version on a leather strap, the diamond-set bracelet suggests it could be a piece unique that was specially made for Ronaldo.

Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon Full Diamonds

As you’d expect from a jewellery firm of the level of Bulgari, the brand certainly knows how to pick quality stones for its watches, as well as setting them with unparalleled expertise.

Highlighting the tourbillon mechanism at 6 o’clock, the 178 baguette-cut diamonds are invisibly (meaning there is no visible mounting for the diamonds) set into the 18-karat white gold case. Arriving on a leather strap, this might not be his latest purchase, but it’s certainly on the same level as his very best, limited to just eight pieces.

Ronaldo’s taste in rare modern Rolex is undisputed with the addition of the GMT Master-II ref. 126755SARU in his watch collection. A timepiece that was launched back in 2019 for the very best Rolex clients, it features a 40mm pink gold case and matching bracelet, in which 12 diamonds, 18 rubies, and 18 sapphires are set into the bezel (hence “the”SARU” in the reference number).

Casio G-Shock GM6900 With Diamonds

You might not expect to see a Casio G-Shock in a list of Cristiano Ronaldo’s watches, but if you were going to see one, it would be covered in diamonds just like the one he’s spotted wearing here.

According to G-Central, this custom diamond-encrusted G-Shock was a gift from Ronaldo to his partner Georgina Rodriguez for her 30th birthday. Just a couple of months later, he wore this reminder of her on a trip to Slovenia to play a Euro 2024 friendly ahead of the championships.

While there’s no confirmation of exactly which jeweller made this custom watch, it would be a fair guess that it was the New York-based jeweller and watchmaker Jacob & Co, whom Ronaldo has a very close relationship with.

Arriving at a price is tricky with custom pieces, however, it’s relatively similar to a diamond-set G-Shock that belonged to Pharell Williams, which recently sold at auction for US$57,500 (AU$86,200).

Franck Muller Diamond Tourbillon

Another of the Franck Muller watches Ronaldo owns, this one is the Diamond Tourbillon that’s been invisibly set with diamonds and rubies. Featuring a gargantuan white gold case, the watch is set with 474 stones in total, including nearly 100 baguette-cut rubies in the dial and bracelet. If ever there was a special occasion watch in Ronaldo’s collection, this would be it.

Hublot Masterpiece MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-Axis

While Ronaldo has a number of rare and limited edition watches, he is also believed to own a piece unique Hublot Masterpiece MP-09 Tourbillon Bi-axis. This means it’s the only one of its kind, with a rose gold case that measures 49mm in diameter and a case and dial covered in pave diamonds. Water resistant to 30m, the timepiece is powered by the HUB9009.H1.RA manual-winding Tourbillon Bi-axis Skeleton Movement, offering a full five-day power reserve.

Breguet Classique ‘Grande Complication’ Double Tourbillon

This is another timepiece that should leave your jaw on the floor. Featuring a 50mm platinum case, this Breuget weighs an incredible 308 grams and is adorned with 417 diamonds around the bezel, case, crown and dial.

Powered by the manually wound calibre 588, it really is one of the most impressive timepieces ever to leave the Breguet factory.

TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T with baguette diamond bezel

You might be getting the impression that Cristiano Ronaldo loves diamonds and you’d be right, even owning one of the relatively few TAG Heuer watches to be set with the precious stones.

Originally launched in 2017, the TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T with baguette diamond bezel features a tourbillon and chronograph mechanism, all housed within a 45mm titanium case. It looks to be paired on a rubber orange camo Horus strap, and is a fantastic summer watch thanks to the lightweight case and legible dial.
